Vitamin D helps the body maintain healthy levels of calcium and phosphorus. Calcium can only be absorbed by the body when vitamin D is present. Vitamin D also plays many important roles beyond bone health. Recent scientific evidence suggests that vitamin D plays a vital part in maintaining innate immunity.
